About this guide

Who's behind Pilanesberg Park?

An independent visitor guide, published by Visit Africa Publishers. We are not a tour operator or a booking agent, and we are not connected to the North West Parks and Tourism Board.

Who writes this

Pilanesberg Park comes from a small independent publisher whose writers have crossed Africa by road, camping and self-driving through its parks. The information about those parks was what kept letting them down: gate fees years out of date, camps that had burned or closed still listed as open.

This guide is the answer to that. It is built on dated sources line by line, and it says plainly where the official record is silent.

What this site is

An independent guide to Pilanesberg National Park and the gates, towns and resorts around it. We do not take bookings, we do not sell safaris, and no lodge pays to be listed or to be listed higher. We are not the park's official site, and we are not connected to the North West Parks and Tourism Board, Golden Leopard Resorts or Sun City.

How we work at Pilanesberg

Pilanesberg is a park where the official record is thin. The board's website was down in September 2026 and it publishes no tariff sheet, so our fee figures come from the tariff as two booking portals print it, checked against the base fees the board's acting CEO gave the trade press in October 2025. Every line reconciles to the rand, and where the two portals disagree, as on the foreign child rate, we show both.

Several figures that circulate widely are out of date: the R110 foreign entry fee, flights from Cape Town to Pilanesberg's airport, and Manyane Resort as fully open. We correct them with a date and a source. We list every place to stay we could find, including guesthouses in Mogwase and Saulspoort that the booking portals leave out, and say who owns each one.

Found something outdated? Tell us and we will fix it.

How the guide is funded

The guide may carry clearly marked advertising or affiliate links in future. None of that buys a place in a list, a rating or a sentence. Prices are what the lodge or operator publishes, with the date we read them.

The publisher

Pilanesberg Park is published by Visit Africa Publishers, which runs a small set of independent guides to Africa's national parks. The method is the same on each: fees with a date on them, every place to stay listed, and a plain note where the record runs out.
