Month by month
Pilanesberg in February
February is still the green season in Pilanesberg, a little drier than January but with afternoon storms most days and the bush at its thickest.
If you only want the answer
Expect 93 mm of rain on about 14 days, highs of 27.6°C and warm nights. It is the last month of the 05:30 to 19:00 gate hours; from March the gates open later and close earlier.
February weather in Pilanesberg
The 1991 to 2020 average is 93 mm over about 14 rain days, against 100 mm at the Rustenburg station. Highs reach about 27.6°C and lows about 17.6°C. Storms tend to come in the afternoon, so plan your longest drive for the morning.
The last month of long gate hours
February is the final month with gates open from 05:30 to 19:00. From 1 March they move to 06:00 to 18:30, so a February visit gives you an extra hour a day compared with the autumn. Entry stops about an hour before closing.
The bush is still dense and the grass tall. Elephant, giraffe, zebra and wildebeest on the open flats are the reliable sightings; predators take patience.
Facilities in February
In February 2026 the board named hides, picnic sites and ablutions as the first phase of its upgrade programme, after saying in October 2025 that they were in dire need of refurbishment. Which hides were finished is not published, so carry water and food and do not rely on any single facility. Manyane Resort lost its restaurant and reception to a fire in February 2024.
