Short answer
The North West Parks board publishes no downloadable map, and its website was down in September 2026. Use the map below, the coordinates in the table, and an offline app such as OsmAnd or Organic Maps. Four tarred roads cross the crater: Kubu Drive from Bakubung gate, Kgabo Drive from Bakgatla, Tshwene Drive from Manyane, and Tau linking the last two. A self-drive map booklet was sold at the gates for R40 in 2020; its current price is not published.

The North West Parks and Tourism Board publishes no map of Pilanesberg online. Its website returned an error on 24 September 2026, and the archived version carries no map either.
Key coordinates
Save these before you go. Mobile coverage inside the park is patchy at best, and a set of waypoints in an offline app will get you out of trouble faster than anything else.

Finding your way around Pilanesberg
- The core circuit: Kubu Drive north from Bakubung gate, Kgabo Drive between the centre and Bakgatla gate, and Tshwene Drive east to Manyane gate. Tau Drive links Kgabo and Tshwene.
- The Pilanesberg Centre and Mankwe Dam sit near the middle of the crater; most loops pass within a short drive of them.
- Gravel loops leave the tar in every direction. The board says some are in poor condition; a high-clearance car is the safer choice for them in 2026.
- Plan your exit: entry stops about an hour before closing, and closing is 18:00 from May to August. The roads are slow and potholed in places.
- Lodges on the private reserve on the western side and Shepherd's Tree use private entrances off the R565, for their guests only.
About the coordinates
The coordinates above come from OpenStreetMap, read 6 October 2026, and mark the feature itself. Some hides are spelled differently there (Rathlogo, Malatze, Bathlhako); we use the spelling of the park's own signage as the booking portals print it. One portal speaks of five public gates but names only four, so we name four. The hides' 2026 condition is not published: the board named hides, picnic sites and ablutions as the first phase of its upgrade in February 2026.
