Official North West Parks and Tourism Board rates

Pilanesberg National Park entry fees

Entry is charged per person and per vehicle, per day, in rand, and the gates have been card only since 1 December 2025. A foreign couple in a hire car pays R1,664 a day (about $102); a South African couple pays R504. The tariff includes a community conservation levy on top of the base fee.

If you only want the answer

An international adult pays R748 (about $46) a day to enter Pilanesberg, plus R168 (about $10) for the car, so a foreign couple in a hire car pays R1,664 a day. South Africans pay R168 per adult with ID. This tariff has applied since 1 December 2025, and the gates take cards only.

Conservation fee, North West Parks (per person, per day)

International adult (outside SADC) R748 about $46; R680 base plus the 10% levy
International child (outside SADC) R275 or R748 the board publishes no child rate for non-SADC visitors, and the two booking portals quote different figures; budget R748 to be safe
SADC adult R385 about $24; R350 base plus 10%
SADC child, 5 to 12 R275 about $17; R250 base plus 10%
South African adult R168 about $10; R160 base plus 5%; show your ID

Children under 5 Not stated the paid child band starts at 5, which implies free entry below that age, but no source says so

Before 1 December 2025 the fees were R110 for a foreign adult, R80 for a South African adult and R30 for a child: the foreign adult rate went up 580%. The child band changed from 6 to 12 to 5 to 12.

Why other sites still show R80 and R110

Several guides and booking sites still print the old tariff: R80 for South African adults, R110 for foreign visitors, R30 for children and R40 for a car. Those figures ended on 30 November 2025. One portal shows two old tables (R90 and R140, and R80 and R110) and neither current one, and a Mankwe drive page still quotes a levy of R90 per person.

The tariff that started on 1 December 2025 was fought publicly and then implemented unchanged; a board spokesperson told OFM in February 2026 that the tariffs "are being implemented as they are". Budget on R748 a day per foreign adult.

The October 2025 proposal listed buses of 26 to 50 seats at R400 base, so the final tariff differs from the proposal for large vehicles. Before 1 December 2025 a car paid R40.

Something this page does not answer?

Fees are the one thing park authorities change without telling anyone, and some of them publish nothing at all.

Ask us. We answer questions about the park itself, and we can usually tell you which camps work on one route and who to write to. If what you want is a trip someone else arranges, we will say so and hand you to an operator we know, and we earn a commission if that becomes a booking.

Nothing on this site sits behind the form. Every figure we have is already on the page.
